8,000 steps toward a cleaner Rivne: Waste Management Center marks its first anniversary
A year ago, a facility opened in Rivne where unwanted items get a second life and waste is handled properly.
Since then, the center—operated by KATP 1728—has welcomed over 8,000 visitors. Together, they have handed over nearly 500 kg of plastic bottles, over 4 tonnes of paper, and 7 tonnes of glass for recycling and disposal. They also brought in hazardous waste, old appliances, furniture, and bulky or post-renovation waste.
The used clothing collection bins are particularly popular; items that were no longer needed by one person have become useful to another. That is exactly how the principle of reuse works.
Just as importantly, the center introduces schoolchildren to the culture of waste sorting; tours are conducted to demonstrate why it is important to cultivate a responsible attitude toward waste from an early age.
8,000 visitors in a year means 8,000 steps toward a cleaner Rivne.
The waste management center at KATP 1728 is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM at 22 Volodymyr Stelmakh Street.
Similar collection points also operate in the Pivnichnyi and Yuvileinyi neighborhoods.
