Compliance with established restrictions helps preserve natural ecosystems.

The “silent season” has begun in Ukraine: what it is and what is forbidden to do
In Ukraine, from April 1 to June 15, 2026, the “silent season” lasts – a period when wild animals and birds actively reproduce in nature: they build nests, breed offspring and raise young. During this period, even minor human intervention can have serious consequences for the preservation of biodiversity. During this time, strict restrictions apply in forests, steppes and near water bodies, violations of which are punishable by fines.
During this period, restrictions apply not only to those who conduct economic activities in natural areas, but also to tourists and local residents. The main prohibition is to avoid increased noise, which may disturb animals during reproduction.

Please follow a few simple but important recommendations:

– do not disturb wild animals and birds;

– avoid visiting their nesting sites;

– do not turn on loud music and do not hold noisy events in nature;

– walk pets only on a leash;

– do not leave garbage behind and do not light a fire in places where it is prohibited;

– choose marked tourist routes and eco-trails. Avoid moving outside them, especially in the thickets of the forest.

The traditional spring-summer spawning ban begins on the vast majority of fishery water bodies of Ukraine. In the Rivne region: on rivers and root waters it will last from 01.04 to 20.05, on reservoirs, lakes and ponds – from 01.04 to 10.06, on tributary waters of rivers – from 01.04 to 30.06.

In addition, during the “silent season” it is forbidden to pick or dig up rare primroses – snowdrops, crocuses, somniferum, white flower and wild garlic. Some of these plants are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, and the destruction of their populations can lead to the extinction of species.

It should be noted separately that in the spring period the number of cases of burning dry vegetation also increases, which not only harms the environment, but also threatens the lives of animals during their reproduction period.

The “silent season” is enshrined in the Law of Ukraine “On the Animal World” and applies to everyone who is or conducts activities in forests, steppes, near water bodies. Violation of the requirements of the “silent season” entails administrative liability and the imposition of fines.

Following simple rules during the silent season is the contribution of every resident to the preservation of the nature of our community. By respecting silence today, we help preserve life and environmental diversity for future generations!
