Rivne youth joins discussion of international community projects

The international project “Development of Sewerage Infrastructure and Improvement of Wastewater Management in Rivne and Lublin” is being implemented in Rivne, which is implemented within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021–2027 program with financial support from the European Union. The total amount of European funding for the Rivne community is about 1.2 million euros.

The project is aimed not only at developing the drainage infrastructure, but also at improving the efficiency of wastewater and stormwater management. The planned works include updating sewer networks, installing stormwater intakes, increasing the throughput of pipes, and creating local treatment facilities. In particular, the implementation of the project should help reduce the problem of flooding in the central part of Rivne during heavy rainfall.

It is especially pleasing that the youth of our community are joining the discussion of the implementation of such large-scale initiatives. Young people are interested in how international projects work, where funds for the development of the city are raised, how partnerships with European communities are formed and, most importantly, how grant ideas are transformed into concrete changes in Rivne.

Such meetings are an opportunity to see that international cooperation is not abstract agreements or documents. These are real infrastructure solutions, new approaches to managing the city economy, exchange of experience and opportunities for community development.

At the same time, involving young people in such processes is of great importance for the future of the city. After all, it is the young residents of Rivne who are already forming their vision of what the city should be like tomorrow – modern, comfortable, environmentally responsible and open to European cooperation.

It is no less important that during such meetings young people can not only receive information, but also ask questions, express their own opinions and better understand the mechanisms of community development. This creates a sense of involvement in the processes taking place in the city and shows that every resident can be an active participant in change.

The AquaForce project is being implemented in partnership between Rivne and Lublin, demonstrating how joint work between Ukrainian and Polish cities can contribute to finding modern solutions in the field of water drainage and environmental safety. The project implementation period is from October 2024 to September 2026.

We thank the youth for their curiosity, activity, questions and sincere desire to know more about the development of Rivne. It is with concern, knowledge and willingness to join the life of the community that changes begin, which later become noticeable for the entire city.
