Creation of a hydrological reserve in the floodplain of the Ustya River.
Rivne floodplains are a unique floodplain ecosystem and a natural biological filter of the Ustya River with an area of over 100 hectares, located within the Rivne community near the Ostvytsya historical reconstruction park. On November 20, 2025, the city council adopted a decision to create a hydrological reserve of local importance here to protect the environment and prohibit development.
Ecological significance and status
Natural filter: Water from the Ustya River passes through floodplains before entering the Basivkut reservoir, which improves its quality.
Biodiversity champion: The territory is home to many rare species of birds, animals and plants.
Conservation status: The project to create a reserve with an area of about 101.6 hectares is supported by the city authorities to prevent any construction and economic destruction of the ecosystem.
