Another 67.5 meters of new sewer network laid in Rivne
In Rivne, the sewerage infrastructure is being renovated as part of the joint cross-border project “Development of sewerage infrastructure and improvement of wastewater management in Rivne and Lublin”.
As part of the next stage of work, another 67.5 meters of new sewerage network have been laid. This is one of the practical results of the project aimed at modernizing the city’s wastewater system and increasing its efficiency.
The modern horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method was used to carry out the work. Its peculiarity is that the necessary communications are laid underground without the need for large-scale excavation of the surface.
This approach allows minimizing interference with the urban environment: there is no need to completely uncover the road surface along the entire length of the network, the volume of earthworks is significantly reduced, and the area requires less restoration after the work is completed. In addition, it makes it possible to reduce inconvenience for residents, drivers and pedestrians associated with prolonged closures or traffic restrictions.
The use of GNB technology is especially relevant for urban development, where laying new communications in a traditional way may require significant intervention in already developed areas. That is why modern trenchless technologies allow combining infrastructure development with the most careful attitude to urban space.
Each newly developed section of the sewer network is a separate but important step in the comprehensive renewal of the Rivne drainage system. The new infrastructure should contribute to increasing the throughput capacity and reliability of the sewer network, as well as more efficient wastewater disposal.
At the same time, the project is important not only from the point of view of renewing individual engineering networks. It is about the consistent formation of a more modern, reliable and environmentally responsible wastewater management system, which is an important component of a comfortable and safe urban environment.
The joint project of Rivne and Lublin provides for a set of measures aimed at improving the drainage and wastewater management systems in both cities. For Rivne, one of the important areas is the improvement of infrastructure, which will help improve the hydrological regime and contribute to solving the problem of flooding in the central part of the city.
The project “Development of sewerage infrastructure and improvement of wastewater management in Rivne and Lublin” is implemented within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021–2027 Program with financial support from the European Union. Rivne is the lead partner of the project, and the city of Lublin is a partner
