An international conference “Development of Sewerage Infrastructure and Improvement of Wastewater Management in the Cities of Rivne and Lublin” was held in Rivne, which became an important stage in the implementation of a joint Ukrainian-Polish project.
Representatives of the city authorities, specialized enterprises and international partners from Poland — the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company in Lublin (MPWiK) — took part. In particular, the Director of the Service and Administration Service Dariusz Sadowski, Head of the Department of Support and Implementation of International Programs and Projects Ewelina Graban and Head of the Department of Administration and Management of Material Resources Kamil Czarko took part.
The focus of the discussion was on modern approaches to wastewater management, adaptation of urban infrastructure to climate change and Lublin’s practical experience in implementing effective engineering solutions. Special attention was paid to the problem of flooding in the central part of Rivne, which is systemic in nature and requires comprehensive solutions.
Within the framework of a joint grant project, the cities are moving from planning to practical implementation: the reconstruction of storm and meltwater sewer networks on Chornovola, Dragomanova and Zamkova streets is planned. This will not only minimize the risks of flooding during heavy rainfall, but also increase the resilience of the city’s infrastructure to climate challenges.
The conference became a platform for exchanging experiences, synchronizing approaches and developing joint solutions that will contribute to improving the quality of life of residents of both cities and developing modern, environmentally responsible infrastructure.
